I’ve talked about the previous RetroN consoles here before, including the SupaBoy that I own. The Retron5 has added a slew of new features including bluetooth controllers, HD upconverting via HDMI, save-states at anypoint, and much more. Hit the link to check them out. This console will be released “sometime after June”.
Who doesn’t like Crazy Taxi? Endless hours of party fun! It’s been officially ported to your iOS device. If you have an iPhone 5 it’s not full screen but on the iPad/iPhone4 it is. I don’t play many mobile games but little-commitment games like this are the ones I do go to if needed. Great buy.
On my way home the other day I passed by Apt 78. I knew Questo was going to be DJ’ing there sometime soon but forgot it was that night. I saw a bunch of Inwood familiar faces out front and a bunch of familiar tunes blaring out the spot. Check some of his tweets. He also managed to hit up my seafood spot on 207th, El Tina Fish Market, afterwards. Back in the day, I meet Questlove in what he called “the old Platinum Island“. I’ve also seen him with The Roots a bunch of times live. Always a pleasure.
5 mins in and I’m loving it! Incredible: people/food/music come I’m going til 2! apt78.com
“Media personnel” have been playing FIFA 13 and it sounds dope. Watching the trailer it doesn’t look like much has changed so FIFA 13 will be one of those incremental FIFA releases. I’ll buy it anyway.
When I was a kid, Wolfenstein 3D came to DOS and it was the game to play. I recall playing that along with the later ID Software games. Building levels for DOOM was more enjoyable than any gaming experience I have now. It’s now the 20th Anniversary (Am I really that old?) and you can play Wolfenstein 3D on the web or your iPhone. Check the video below of the software engineer describing how the game came about. Super interesting.
Um. Wow. Someone recreated Mario for Nintendo with a twist of Portal. It’s free. So I downloaded it. This has to be the most awesome thing I’ve played in a while. Everything runs very smooth and the controls are perfect. Playing Mario with a mouse comes natural to anyone who has played any first person shooters on the PC. Now, the most awesome thing about this is that it’s in the 16:9 ratio. Which means it fills out my 60″ Pioneer Plasma in full HD while maintaining it’s NES integrity.
The makers went above and beyond on this by also adding multiplayer, level editors, and game mods. Quite amazing.
It’s free and available for PC, MAC, and LINUX. Get it here:
Awesomely awesome! Did anyone notice the NHL 95 sounds?!?!? Holy shit! Best reference ever. This was shot on RED. As much as I hate RED, this looks great and the green-screen is fairly good.
