I recently got around to watching the Back To The Future trilogy. Straight through. It’s been at least 15 years since I’ve seen one of these. The remastering looks great. As corny as these movies are, the trilogy itself is more consistent than most if not ALL that I’ve seen. The packaging and blu-ray extras are all great too. You can watch them online if you illegally downloaded the trilogy. The one thing that didn’t affect me as much as it normally does is the aspect ratio. The blu-ray plays back at 16:9. There’s no way it was shot at that. 1:37 to 1 is what IMDB has which is basically 4:3. I’m missing tops and bottoms in the 16:9 version. Is there a remastered original version somewhere? Only a few shots jumped out as badly composed. Regardless, I’d recommend the set.
The Major League Soccer allstar game will be held at the New York Red Bulls stadium this year. The cool thing about this allstar game compared to other sports’ is that each year the MLS allstars play a famous team from another league. The rumor is that we will play Barcelona this year. That will be huge because Thierry Henry played for Barcelona before coming to the New York Red Bulls. I’ll be there regardless.
IntoNow is a free mobile app that enables a user to check-in to live media events (e.g. TV shows). It even works for live broadcasts due to IntoNow constantly updating television channel ‘footprints‘. Why would you want to check-in during a TV show? The same reason anyone checks-in anywhere. The same reason topics trend on Twitter.
The check-in method is kind of cool in that it’s similar to those “figure-out-what-song-this-is” apps. You hold your phone up to your television and it checks you in at that show and gives you all the relevant info on that show a-la Foursquare. You can add friends etc etc but try it. The Android version is in the works now.
