Technicolor CineStyle v1.1 is here for your Canon DSLR. I did some quick tests and may put them up later. I should take this for a spin in sunlight because I wouldn’t want to make any opinions off any daylight balanced lighting. So far, I like it better than Marvel’s most recent Cine flat picture style. Picture profiles are very dependent on lenses and lighting situation so I want to try a few more lenses and situations.
You can download it here. It works with all the Canon DSLR’s but especially the 5D.
Of all the put-your-iPhone-into-something-else gadgets, I admire this one the most. Who doesn’t like Leica? I recently posted about the new firmware for the Eye-Fi and how this camera-phone phone-camera thing is getting awfully blurry. From what I understand you’re actually using the Leica lens itself and simply transferring the photo to the iPhone automatically. Wouldn’t this be the same as putting an Eye-Fi in your Leica D-LUX? The would be a lot cheaper than a $900 case for your iPhone.

Talking Funny finally aired this past weekend. Talking Funny is an HBO special that features Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais, and Louis CK sitting around each other discussing comedy. I’ve seen Louis CK enough times live to know not to miss this special.
I’m not a big fan of Seinfeld or Gervais but I’ve seen enough of their stand-up to respect them and value their opinions. Talking Funny is genuinely interesting and gut-busting. What they are discussing boils down to the age old question of what’s funny and why. There isn’t much new here but the stories, antics, analogies, and insults these guys dish out make this completely worthwhile.
Although, I didn’t like how the special looked visually (the whole purple/green thing), content is king right? These guys break down why content isn’t king and why what they do is like no other art form. Catch it!
The New York Red Bulls are the New York team in the American soccer league called the MLS. Juan Agudelo is one of the two Americans on the team. He plays along side Theirry Henry. Theirry Henry was my favorite player growing up. Juan scored the above goal. Twelve years ago, Theirry Henry scored the goal below.
Remember that controversialpost I wrote pitting the Eye-Fi against Canon’s WFT-E5A? LOL. Well, the Eye-Fi just upped their features. With a simple firmware update to your Eye-Fi SD card you can start wirelessly sending pictures from your camera to your phone/tablet/laptop. Previously, you needed the ShutterSnitch app. Not anymore. Take a picture with your Canon 60D and then upload it to Facebook…or edit it right in Photoshop on your iPad. This gap between camera-phone and true camera-phone keeps getting shorter.
As someone obsessed with symmetry, how could I not like this? Above is a video inspired by the Radiolab episode “Desperately Seeking Symmetry” which you should also check out. Radiolab has got me through plenty commutes and room-cleans. This video is a follow up to Words which I wasn’t a big fan of.
I’m going to start a new segment here where I will simply name an iPhone app and the old game(s) that it reminds me of. I’ll call the segment “Reminds Me Of”. In this case, we have a number 1 paid app called Air Penguin. It reminds me of two Nintendo games. Antarctic Adventure and Bump n’ Jump.
Check out the trailer for Everything Must Go, starring Will Farrell and The Notorious B.I.G.’s son, Christopher J Wallace. It’s playing in the Tribeca Film Festival next week on April 27th.
Famed Vincent Laforet did a cool round-up on his blog of some of the cameras at NAB 2011. I’m a little surprised the Alexa didn’t come out completely victorious as I love the picture from that thing. In the round-up Laforet posted a video shot on the Sony F3 with the new firmware. Wow. I can honestly say I prefer the picture of this to the RED Epic. The unreleased S-Log firmware hopefully is a hint at what Technicolor’s CineStyle logarithmic picture style will look like on the Canon DSLRs.
Adobe CS5.5 got announced around the same time Final Cut Pro X did. Both now have a rolling shutter fix built in aimed right at DSLR users. Enjoy this unintentionally funny demo video.
Cymarshall Law & The Beatnikz Zion Land
Directed by Basile Pierrat / Sophian Verri / Raph Anoush
I’ve worked with Cymarshall Law in the past. He’s a dope emcee that grinds too hard. New songs and videos constantly. What ever happened to more supply decreases value? Feeling this video for the most part.
