Dynamic Split Browsing. LOL. I do a fair share of mobile browsing both tablet and phone. Amazon has an interesting concept here. My question is…why not do this for everything?

This movie is corny…but there’s nothing corny about Dania Ramirez in NYC.

I guess anyone can make a film these days with such an outdated premise such as this one. Maybe 10 years ago this would’ve be relevant. Good motion graphics though…

Biting Elbows
The Stampede
Directed by Ilya Naishuller
Shot by Sergei Valyaev and Ilya Naishuller
With only around 12 cuts we have a good first person POV video. The quality doesn’t look as good as the 5D first person videos but maybe this was shot on one of the GoPros.

Apogee Duet2
MAC Only
$595
As an audio guy, I’d never recommend a USB audio interface but when I heard Apogee was making one, I had to take a listen. I’d recommend this. Wish they had it for the PC but completely understandable. PC users wouldn’t care.

In my quest to find a good Sci-Fi series I jumped at the opportunity to watch the season premiere of the much hyped Terra Nova. I’ve tried Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Falling Skies, Arc, Lost, and many others but they all had major flaws that kept me from liking them or recommending them. I only made it 2.5 episodes into Lost before I threw up, so, my expectations for Terra Nova weren’t very high due to the many similarities. After making it through the extra long Terra Nova premiere I can say one word, fun.
Terra Nova moves really well and doesn’t let the audience get bored. It has the genre-required pretty faces, the chase scenes, the dumb mysteries, the soap drama, and the word-for-word predictable lines. For the most part Terra Nova is very predictable. We know who the real bad guys are going to be. We know what relationships are going to emerge. We know which characters will step up in the future and which ones will fail. We know what the markings mean on the walls. Luckily, none of that matters here. There isn’t a dull moment.
Dullness isn’t the problem with Terra Nova. Jason O’Mara, as the main character, can be a little cartoonish at times. The graphics are horrible. With 6 weeks spent on post work per episode I’m disappointed in how bad it looks. Practically every shot that takes place on a set looks like it. All the green-screen stuff looks horrendous. I grabbed one of the bad green-screens below. It’s hard not to compare this to Jurassic Park but Jurassic Park got that part right. The dialogue audio is all over the place. Some of the set design choices make no sense. So, besides the visual disappointments that tend to plague the genre, Terra Nova has some potential.

Looking passed the Obama currency, the best thing about this series is that the episode ended without a cliffhanger. That final cut to black left a good taste in my mouth. I can’t say that for any others during this quest. We’ll see if I can make it more than 2.5 episodes.
