Star Wars via Internet Users [Film]

What happens when the crowd sourcing movement hits classic movies? You get an internet rendition of Star Wars where every 15 seconds of Star Wars you see a different internet user’s rendition of that portion of the script. The range here on creativity and lack there of is ridiculous and gets really funny at parts. I like the different ways modern culture is injected all over this thing. If you have a long time to kill watch this.

Check out 88 in the video acting a fool. LOL. I’m not going to front. The few times I’ve used sequencers on tablets I’ve been hooked. I need to get back into the beats.

Adobe Post Production on Mobius [Video] @Jon_Carr

Remember Mobius by Vincent LaForet? Check out this Adobe Suite post production video by Jon Carr on how the graffiti was removed from certain shots. It’s interesting to see multiple masks used on a simple Photoshop’d still. Working with Canon C300 footage in Premiere isn’t very taxing on your computer’s CPU. Probably even less taxing when Adobe CS6 drops later this year.

iPhone : For People Who Are Scared of Computers [Apple]

Recently, Apple founder and man-behind-tech, Steve Wozniak, said the iPhone is for “people who are just scared of computers”. In his interview with the Daily Beast he also went on to say:

My primary phone is the iPhone…I love the beauty of it. But I wish it did all the things my Android does, I really do.

He even went on to talk about how voice commands and navigation are better on the Android system. Anytime I’m in a car I’m surprised at how bad iPhone GPS is. Regardless, it’s a good interview on why Woz believes the iPhone is the best smartphone out there but that the Android actually is “more available in some ways”. Check it out here.

The Secret World of Arrietty [Film]

The Secret World of Arrietty
Directed by HIROMASA YONEBAYASHI & GARY RYDSTROM
Written by MARY NORTON & HAYAO MIYAZAKI

Another Miyazaki film is coming to the states this February called The Secret World of Arrietty. The Castle of Cagliostro and Laputa are my favorites of his. Although this was better than his last, Ponyo, it was rather disappointing.

The story is based on a book so I can’t fault Miyazaki too much but the pace and lack of conflict doesn’t draw the compassion needed to make one feel for Arrietty, the protagonist. The Secret World of Arrietty carries all the great style and sound design of all the past Studio Ghibli films but leaves me dissatisfied. Miyazaki didn’t direct the film. He only wrote it. That’s probably why this film didn’t work. However, I’d easily show the film to my kid. I just won’t spend any money on it.
