Scenario – Live [Video]

Scenario went down live at this year’s Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. I heard from people that were there that it was a dope performance so I checked YouTube. There’s a bunch of clips but I wanted a multi-cam video of it. Above is NoisemakerMedia‘s cut of it. I did video for BHHF a few years ago and it was a lot of fun. My only criticism of this video is that the audio is only the mic feed. On the YouTube videos you get the crowd response as well as the full energy. We lose that here. Also, I’m not sure what the camera on the slider is doing.

Belkin WeMo [Gadgets]

Sooo…last week I got a shipment of a bunch of Belkin WeMos. I pretty much hit every socket in my apartment. It’s kind of a cheap simple way to set up home automation. A WeMo is a basically a device that allows you to control a power socket’s on/off switch via your smartphone. It was kind of stupid for me to get these because I had already rigged up my spot with Belkin’s switch activated power strips. However, the thought of mobily and remotely controlling my power sockets is attractive.

Say you’re on your way home and you want to have your place cool before you walk in. You can either leave your AC on all day like many Americans do or you can turn your AC on via the app 30 minutes before you get home. Do you hate turning off all your lamps when you leave a room? I do. So now I don’t thanks to my WeMos. The possibilities are endless.

I’m leaving out the goodies though. I also purchased some of Belkin’s motion activated sensors for these WeMos. You can have all your lights turn on automatically when you walk in a room. The possibilities are endless here too.

The best thing about the WeMo is that you can sync it to your IFTTT (If This Then That) account which is basically syncing it up to online services. So, I can have my WeMo text me whenever someone walks in my front door. You can have your pet control their own Twitter/Facebook pages. You can have it so that whenever the sun sets all your lights turn on. If you had an alarm with a red light in your home you could sync it up so that if Apple’s stock price dropped below $100 it would go off. Whenever the temperature is about 74 degrees, turn on the AC. Turn on all house lights when you check in on Foursquare that you’re home. The home automation sync scenerio has never been this easy and simple. Check it out:

Saw @questlove in the Heights [Video]

On my way home the other day I passed by Apt 78. I knew Questo was going to be DJ’ing there sometime soon but forgot it was that night. I saw a bunch of Inwood familiar faces out front and a bunch of familiar tunes blaring out the spot. Check some of his tweets. He also managed to hit up my seafood spot on 207th, El Tina Fish Market, afterwards. Back in the day, I meet Questlove in what he called “the old Platinum Island“. I’ve also seen him with The Roots a bunch of times live. Always a pleasure.

Sneakas – Gimme the Loot (ft Boldy James) [Video]

Sneakas ft Boldy James
Gimme The Loot
Directed by – Jon Maxwell
Director of Photography – Ray Huang

I wish Sneakas’ flow was much better but the beat is dope and Boldy kills it. The video is cliche and ends how you’d expect but has Denise Dorado in it to keep you watching ’til the end. Enjoy.

Help WiLL TeeZ [Rep Your Hood] #Inwood

Inwood‘s own Will TeeZ is in need of some help. If you don’t own one of his shirts, I’m sure you’ve seen one. He has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia which is a cancer similar to one that almost got my mother. You could catch him everywhere from Indian Road Cafe to the farmer’s market. He represents Inwood. There is an Indiegogo campaign to help Will that is truly unbelievable. I’m already amazed at who has donated. Please click the image below and help out if you can.

Climax Cover [Video]

Jsun did it yet again with a dope cover. Incidentally, Climax is a good song with good chords blah blah and was written by Ariel Rechtshaid, who also wrote Plain White T‘s “Hey There Delilah”. Usher’s version is good but my taste usually falls towards traditional instrumentation. Maybe I should put something together? Not happening.

FIFA 13 [Trailer]

“Media personnel” have been playing FIFA 13 and it sounds dope. Watching the trailer it doesn’t look like much has changed so FIFA 13 will be one of those incremental FIFA releases. I’ll buy it anyway.
