Google has officially released Android version 4.1 for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Until Verizon signs off on it, it won’t go out OTA. So, for anyone eager to grab the best version of Android, you’ll need to head over here and pick up the ROM and flash it. It’s a few steps and a few flashes, so it’s scary for any first time flashers but it’s not difficult by any means.
I installed it and noticed they increased the 4G radio strength. It would seem the speed is quicker but I’m not doing any tests so I can’t confirm. Also notable is Google Now. Yes, the same Google Now from the Galaxy S3 commercials. It’s quicker and slicker that Siri (especially iOS 6 Siri) but I still don’t ever use voice commands. I’m reading that Jelly Bean is faster than Ice Cream Sandwich but I haven’t noticed it. Also, who the eff cares? ![]()

First of all, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! I know we all predicted this and have even seen touchscreen Android point-and-shoots but Jelly Bean? I can only name maybe two devices with native Jelly Bean right now. So this means you can now have a good lens with the best Android OS, connectivity, and touchscreen ability.
The specs are not even half good. They are good! 16 Megapixel is more than enough regardless of sensor size. 1080p video is great. 720p slow motion at 120fps?!?! Are you kidding me? I have to see this. The new Blackmagic 2.5K $3,000 film camera doesn’t even do that. This little thing even has HDMI out.
I usually stay away from Samsung cameras but I already have a few Android Samsung devices. If this thing takes good pictures and I need a point-and-shot, I’d buy it.

Louis CK tracking with Reggie Watts at Stratosphere Sound Studios for music for Louie. Reggie Watts composed and produced much of the music.
Reggie Watts…the most talented and entertaining musician to date.

ZEPS
Sell My Soul
ZEPS recently dropped a video for one of my favorite songs by him. Check it out. The video could be better but the song is dope. It was produced by Alpha 1.

I don’t know if you’ve been following the patent case of the century but last year Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung claiming patent infringement on numerous patents relating to the iPhone. This is common practice. Some people’s whole lives are dedicated to doing just this. Oh! How prestigious!? All through the trial Samsung got destroyed. I personally don’t agree Samsung infringed on any patents but the court recently ruled that they did and fined Samsung around 1 billion dollars. It could potentially be 3 billion if they rule Samsung willingly infringed. This trial is truly cinematic and I hope a movie/documentary gets made about it. It wouldn’t quite be Inherit The Wind because the verdict of this trial will likely not affect anything in the future.
So, how did Samsung win even though they lost 1 billion dollars? This is the mobile tech world. How much did Facebook buy Instagram for? 1 billion dollars (and that was a good deal). How much did Microsoft buy Skype for? 8 billion dollars. In the mobile tech world it only cost Samsung 1 billion dollars to copy Apple and the iPhone‘s hardware to become the second leading mobile hardware retailer in the world. It may not be ethically right to think this way but if a businessman who wanted to enter the mobile hardware world had 1 billion dollars to spare on copying Apple, why wouldn’t he do it? That’s what Samsung did.

I, along with many others, now own tons of Samsung mobile hardware. This has nothing to do with Android vs iOS. Android easily wins there. As much as I despise Apple I’ve always stated that the iPhone has the best hardware out. Unfortunately, it has a dumb brain; iOS. I’d rather be a smart healthy 6-foot tall human than a dumb 6’1″ ripped sixpack fool. And since we still can’t put Android on an iPhone, who would you rather be?
The reason we all lose is because, companies like Apple are being granted patents on things that shouldn’t be patentable. A grid of icons on a mobile device? Really? Like the old Nokia’s didn’t have that. Patents shouldn’t be granted for such obvious things and are far too often being given out with no resistance. This forces companies to license the technology and charge the consumer more to account for it. Nobody wins here. Not even Apple.

Take This Waltz
Written and Directed by SARAH POLLEY
Canadian infidelity. Sarah Silverman. The parallels between this film and Sarah Polley’s personal life exist and you feel that honesty throughout the entire film. This was much harder to watch than say Little Children because the motivations for infidelity were a lot less obvious.
It was shot on the Genesis. Besides the cheesy lens flares it was really well done. I’d watch it again.

Bill Burr is in my top five comedians of all time. He just released his new comedy hour on Netflix. He is still in my top five.
Bill will be putting it on BillBurr.com for $5 eliminating the middle man a la Radiohead, Prince, Louis CK, Aziz, etc.

Hannibal Buress has a not-so-exclusive DVD exclusive that’s up on YouTube. During Part 2 at around 3:15 there’s a LMAO moment totally worth this whole series. GET THE DVD!

Quite often during the summer, Jetskiers circling Manhattan enter Inwood Park’s cove. It could be by error but it’s usually just to have fun. However, due to the fact that the cove is man made, dependent on tides, and subjected to human-caused erosion, more and more mud seeps in every year. Over the past 30 years the mud levels have reached an all time high. I find the number of stranded Jetskier’s and boaters continues to rise. The man above was part of a party of three who all got stuck. As it made quite the hilarious spectacle filled with police boats, fire trucks, and laughter, let’s hope they own those Jetskies and didn’t rent them. The tides take many hours to cycle.

I recently took some headshots of actor Peter Ganim. He’s the lead in Lapse. I used a Canon 7D with Canon glass.

Photographer Luke MacGregor spent three nights trying to land this photo. Canon 5D Mk III with a 400mm lens. Luckily the rings were lit well or else a crazy tripoded double exposure would have to be done.
