Google Wallet comes to Verizon Galaxy Nexus [CDMA]

August 6th, 2012

Google Wallet has officially come to the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. Due to Verizon’s own NFC chip agendas they wouldn’t allow Galaxy Nexus users to take advantage of the NFC enabled Google Wallet app. Of course there was a workaround, that was rather easy to do to get it, but until now you couldn’t get it officially or the updated version.

For some reason you can’t search for it in the Google Play store. So, here’s the direct link: Google Play – Google Wallet

And if that doesn’t work for you, the direct link to the APK itself is here:

What’s dope with the official app is that Google fixed it’s security problem as well as added support for all kinds of plastic cards. This is major. The overall counter payment process is still maybe 1.5 seconds too long but there’s something sexy about having your wallet on your phone…or part of your brain. Singularity.

UPDATE 8.12.12!
After using the new Google Wallet app in the wild for a week, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s faster than swiping my cards. Good work!
